Group Scout Leader - Jon Carter

As the Group Scout Leader (GSL), Jon has overall responsibility for all of the group’s activities.

 

In common with all leaders in the group, Jon is a volunteer. He is currently Director of Norwal Limited, a local company providing consultancy and training to education providers and businesses. 

 

Jon is a qualified teacher. He holds qualifications as a Powerboat Advanced Instructor, Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor as well as an appointment as an RLSS UK National Trainer-Assessor. He also holds a commercially endorsed Advanced Powerboat Certificate and was previously an operational helmsman at a busy RNLI Lifeboat Station. His health and safety qualifications include the NCRQ Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety and the OCR Level 3 Certificate in Off-site Safety Management.

 

Jon took up his appointment as GSL in March 2019. His previous experience in Scouting includes helping to run two Royal Navy recognised Sea Scout groups in different parts of England. He has been involved in Scouting since the age of 8; Beaver Scouts hadn’t been invented back then!

 

As with all adults holding appointments within the group, Jon has an Enhanced DBS disclosure. He holds a QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) and teaches a range of first aid and casualty care courses, including the Scouts’ First Response course. He has completed safeguarding training in accordance with the requirements of the Scout Association.

Section Leader: Beaver Scouts - Sulwen Roberts

As the Section Leader for Beaver Scouts (BSL), Sulwen has responsibility for planning and delivering an exciting programme for our 6 - 8 year olds.

 

In common with all leaders in the group, Sulwen is a volunteer. She is a retired teacher.

 

Sulwen took up her appointment as BSL in September 2013.

 

As with all adults holding appointments within the group, Sulwen has an Enhanced DBS disclosure. She holds a Scouts’ First Response certificate. She has completed safeguarding training in accordance with the requirements of the Scout Association.

As the acting Section Leader for Sea Scouts (SL), Jon has responsibility for planning and delivering an exciting programme for our 10½ - 14  year olds.

Section Assistant: Sea Scouts - Izzy Brown

As a section assistant for Sea Scouts, Izzy supports the delivery of an exciting programme for our 10½ - 14 year olds.

 

In common with all leaders in the group, Izzy is a volunteer. She is currently a student at Bangor University, working towards a BSc in Physical Geography and Oceanography and also volunteers with GeoMôn as part of the UNESCO Geopark on Anglesey. Don't get her talking about rocks!

 

She is an accredited Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition assessor.

 

Izzy took up her appointment as section assistant in February 2020. Her previous experience in Scouting includes having been in Scouts from a young age and completing Young Leader training and the Chief Scout Platinum award.

 

 

As with all adults holding appointments within the group, Izzy has an Enhanced DBS disclosure. She holds a REC Outdoor First Aid certificate. She has completed safeguarding training in accordance with the requirements of the Scout Association.

Section Assistant: Sea Scouts - Josh Clayton

As a section assistant for Sea Scouts, Josh supports the delivery of an exciting programme for our 10½ - 14 year olds.

 

In common with all leaders in the group, Josh is a volunteer. He is currently a student at Bangor University, working towards a BMus in music.

 

He holds a British Canoeing Paddlesports two-star award and is currently working towards his Mountain Leader qualification.

 

Josh took up his appointment as section assistant in January 2020. His previous experience in Scouting includes being a member of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers, and also taking on a role as a Young Leader for Beavers. He is also a member of the Anglesey District Appointments Advisory Committee.

 

 

As with all adults holding appointments within the group, Josh has an Enhanced DBS disclosure. He holds a REC Outdoor First Aid certificate. He has completed safeguarding training in accordance with the requirements of the Scout Association.
